After a reinstall…

After a reinstall, using the stuff I’ve learned about Lucid 10.04 in the past few days… things are a lot better. The computer is much more responsive after disabling the floppy. And it turns out that if you get the non-free codecs package from Medibuntu (enable the repo first), Java comes with.

However, I had to completely uninstall Iced Tea through the Synaptic Package manager to resolve a conflict and get Java to work with Firefox.

And for some reason, this install turned off the front sound ports. I had to go into the BIOS and “enable”, rather than allow them to go automatically.

Will I remember all this stuff in October and November when I want to install 10.10? Or will it all be different then?
