Better DNS?

I’ve been running Open DNS for a while now. They promise faster resolution for new domains, and protection from phishing and malware sites. I can’t decide if I think it’s better or not. They do block some sites, and offer corrections for my (frequent) mistypes, but I can’t say I’ve noticed a speed improvement, on one side. On the other side, I don’t visit a lot of sites for the first time (as I’m sure is the case with most people, most of the sites I go to are ones I’ve been before). YM, as the saying goes, MV.
